How to Add Your First Menu Category and Item

Your menu powers both online ordering and EPOS. Start with one category and one item, then build from there.

Example Setup

Category: Burgers
Item:
Classic Cheeseburger

Step 1: Create a Category

  1. Open the menu section in the dashboard.

  2. Select the option to add a category.

  3. Enter a category name customers and staff will understand.

  4. Save the category.

Step 2: Add an Item

  1. Open the category you just created.

  2. Select the option to add a new item.

  3. Enter the item name.

  4. Add the selling price.

  5. Add a short description if you want it shown online.

  6. Save the item.

Step 3: Review the Item

Check:

  • the item is active

  • the price is correct

  • the item is assigned to the right category

  • the name is clear for both staff and customers

Best Practice

  • Keep category names short and obvious.

  • Use item names that match how staff call them during service.

  • Do not publish unfinished items with placeholder prices.

  • Archive or deactivate items instead of leaving incorrect products live.

What to Add Next

After your first item is live, you can expand the menu with:

  • more categories

  • modifier groups such as extras or sauces

  • bundle or meal-deal options

  • images and longer descriptions
